I know that there are a lot of misconceptions about hiring a planner, and I’m here to help break those down! Keep reading to learn some of the things you may not know about hiring a wedding planner that will completely change your wedding planning process!
1) We want to help you stick to your budget!
As a planner, my number one goal in planning your wedding is to make sure that you are happy. A huge part of that is respecting your budget! With my full service clients, we dedicate an entire meeting to breaking down their target budget, talking through average vendor prices, and deciding if there is a need to allocate more or less money to each vendor category. For example – if you’re wanting a band or a floral installation, you’ll definitely need a higher budget in your entertainment and floral categories!
2) We are here to help you plan YOUR wedding – not our own!
A huge misconception is that wedding planners take your budget and plan their dream wedding with it, but that is the farthest from the truth! My whole philosophy is to educate my clients so that they can feel confident in the decisions they choose to make for their wedding day. We of course guide you in the right direction when it comes timeline, decor, and vendor suggestions, but at the end of the day you get to make the final decision!
3) We save you time!
I once read a statistic that said most people spend between 200-300 hours planning their wedding. That means that for a year long engagement, couples are carving an extra 4-6 hours a week to plan on top of their jobs, schoolwork, social life, and quality time together- crazy, right?! Many of these hours are spent doing research – a step completely cut out by hiring a wedding planner. Our vast lists of vendors will save you hours of reaching out to vendors to confirm their pricing, checking their availability, and making sure they’re a good fit. Your planner can also handle the correspondence with your vendors, help you stay on top of deadlines, create your timeline, and so much more!
4) We can save your wedding day. Literally.
I’m sure you’ve seen some wedding horror stories cross your feed at one point or another, and after laughing you suddenly freak out thinking it could happen on your wedding day. I like to say that my other job title is professional trouble shooter – I’ve safety pinned a bustle back together, reassembled bouquets, held a brides hand that was swollen from the heat in a bucket of ice so she could get her ring off pre-ceremony… the list of funny little anecdotes go on! There also can be problems on the backend that no one realizes are going on – I’ve had limos not show up so I order an Uber black, a DJ not be prepared for cocktail hour so I plugin a playlist similar to the couple’s music taste, and flipped a reception hall to be the ceremony space in 30 minutes when an unforeseen storm came in. No one likes to think about things going wrong on their wedding day… but wouldn’t you like the reassurance that there is someone there to help fix the problem if something arises?
